It was the hazy yellow light painting my kitchen windows that caught my eye. It was unusual for sunset to be so yellow, and it turned out to be from wildfire smoke which we rarely see here in Pittsburgh. I went outside to watch the show, and was doubly surprised to see these undulating rows of bulbous clouds, Mammatus clouds, which are also unusual. It was a dusk to remember.
I love how big the sky is out west. You can watch a storm roll in for hours. However, I only just saw this as I looked out my window one afternoon. I ran outside to get a shot just as the first raindrops began to fall.
One of the things I love about the west are the huge skies. I walk around our property every night to look at the sunset clouds, but even I was taken aback by the color in this sky. It doesn’t look real in camera, and it didn’t look real in person. But, sometimes nature delivers more than we can imagine.
